A B Mitzvah isn't only for 13-year-olds. Many humanistic Jews grew up without one — and always wondered. This is a personal, one-on-one journey to claim it now, on your own terms. Culturally rich, thoroughly secular, entirely yours.
No fixed curriculum, no memorization, no belief required. You choose the questions. Rabbi Chalom walks with you toward a ceremony that means something.
Torah passage, a moment in Jewish history, a person you admire, an ethical issue you care about — pick a text or a theme that speaks to you.
Weekly private sessions on Zoom (or in person in Deerfield, IL). Real conversation, real study, at a pace that fits your life.
Learn a Hebrew passage tied to your topic — read it for meaning, not performance. We meet you where you are.
Do something in the world that matters to you. Your B Mitzvah year leaves a mark beyond the ceremony.
You co-design the ceremony with Rabbi Chalom — online, in Deerfield, IL, or hybrid so family across the world can attend. Bring your voice, your reading, your project, and the people who matter. That's the whole thing.
A meaningful coming-of-age, threaded through the last two years of Online Sunday School. Small group study, plus one-on-one mentoring with Rabbi Chalom.
