Who we are
Kol Hadash Online is the online learning platform of Kol Hadash Humanistic Congregation, an Illinois nonprofit religious organization located at 2100 Half Day Road, Deerfield, IL 60015.
Your account
You need an accurate email address and a password (or a Google sign-in) to create an account. You are responsible for keeping your password private. Only a parent or legal guardian may create a Family account and add children to it. One person, one account, please — but a Family account is shared by everyone in your household.
What you can do
With a paid plan or an included membership, you can:
- Enroll in and view courses at the level of your plan.
- Attend live Zoom classes you have RSVP'd to.
- Download materials that are marked as downloadable.
- Add your household to a Family plan (up to four children).
What you agree not to do
Please help us keep this a welcoming space:
- Don't share your account, password, or Zoom links with people outside your household.
- Don't record, republish, or resell our lessons, videos, or materials without written permission.
- Don't harass, dox, or discriminate against other learners or teachers. Humanistic Judaism welcomes people of every background — we expect the same from you.
- Don't attempt to break, scrape, or overload the site.
Pricing, chai, and payments
Our plans are priced in multiples of 18 — the Hebrew number chai, life. Prices are shown on the Pricing page and may change over time; if you are a paying subscriber, we will give you at least 30 days' notice before any increase and honor your current price until then. Sales tax may be added where required.
Payments are processed by our payment provider. Refunds within 14 days of a new subscription are available on request — just email us. Kol Hadash Humanistic Congregation members: your online learning is included with your membership.
Cancellation
You can cancel your subscription at any time from your dashboard or by writing to info@KolHadash.com. You will keep access through the end of your current billing period. There is no cancellation fee, and no one will call you to "win you back."
Our content and yours
The courses, videos, images, and written materials on Kol Hadash Online are the intellectual property of Kol Hadash Humanistic Congregation and our faculty, unless credited otherwise. You are welcome to use them for your own learning and to share highlights privately with friends and family, but please do not repost full lessons or resell our content.
Anything you post in a discussion or write in a form belongs to you. By posting, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to display it within the platform to other learners.
B Mitzvah and life-cycle services
Our B Mitzvah program and life-cycle officiation are separate services that begin with a free consultation. Any custom fees, timelines, and expectations will be spelled out in a written agreement before work begins.
Live classes and Zoom
Live classes are held on Zoom. When you RSVP, we email you a link. Please arrive on time, keep your camera on if you're comfortable, and mute when others are speaking. Recordings, if any, are noted at the start of the session; you can turn your camera off before we record.
Availability, changes, and "as-is"
We do our best to keep the site up and the classes running, but we cannot promise the service will be perfect or uninterrupted. If we cancel a live class, we will reschedule or credit you. Otherwise, the service is provided "as-is" to the extent allowed by law.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, Kol Hadash's total liability to you for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the previous 12 months. We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts of Lake County, Illinois — but we would much rather talk it out first. Please email us.
Changes to these terms
If we update these terms, we will change the date at the top and notify logged-in users by email at least 15 days before the change takes effect.
