Privacy Policy

Your privacy, in plain language.

Last updated: July 14, 2026

Kol Hadash Online is run by Kol Hadash Humanistic Congregation, a nonprofit congregation in Deerfield, Illinois. We are teachers and clergy, not advertisers. We collect the minimum information needed to run online classes, and we never sell your data. This page explains β€” in plain English β€” what we collect, why, and the choices you have.

1

What we collect

We only collect information that helps you learn with us or that we're legally required to keep.

  • Account information: your name, email address, preferred language, and (optionally) a password if you don't sign in with Google.
  • Family information (Family plan only): first name and grade of each child you add to your account, so we can place them in the right Sunday School lesson.
  • Learning activity: which courses you enroll in, which lessons you've opened, and which live classes you RSVP to.
  • Inquiries: anything you send us through a form on the site β€” for example, a B Mitzvah consultation request or a life-cycle event inquiry.
  • Technical basics: your browser type, approximate region, and error logs, so we can fix things that break.
2

What we do NOT collect

We want to be clear about the things a lot of websites do that we do not do:

  • We do not sell your personal information. Ever. To anyone.
  • We do not run advertising trackers or third-party ad networks on this site.
  • We do not build advertising profiles about you or your children.
  • We do not share your children's names, ages, or activity with anyone outside our teaching staff.
  • We do not use your information to train third-party AI models.
3

How we use your information

We use the information above only for the reasons you'd expect:

  • To create and maintain your account and family profiles.
  • To send you the Zoom link for a class you signed up for, or a reply to a form you sent us.
  • To keep track of what you've enrolled in so you can pick up where you left off.
  • To keep the site secure and to fix bugs.
  • To send occasional emails about your classes or important changes. We do not add you to marketing lists without your permission.
4

Children and families

Our Sunday School is designed for kids in kindergarten through 7th grade. Only a parent or guardian may create the family account. Children do not sign in on their own and do not receive marketing email from us.

For each child on a Family plan we store only a first name (or nickname) and a grade level. You can edit or remove any child profile from your dashboard at any time.

If you believe a child under 13 has an account without a parent's involvement, please email us and we will remove it right away.

5

Cookies and similar technology

We use a small number of cookies and browser storage entries β€” the boring kind. They keep you signed in, remember your language choice, and help the site work offline. We do not use advertising cookies. You can clear them from your browser at any time; you may need to sign in again afterward.

6

Who we share information with

We share only what is necessary to run the service, and only with trusted providers under contract:

  • Zoom, for live classes you RSVP to.
  • Our hosting and database provider, which stores the account information above securely.
  • Google, only if you choose to sign in with Google.
  • Law enforcement or courts, only if we are legally compelled and only to the minimum extent required.
7

How long we keep information

We keep account information for as long as you have an active account plus a short period after, in case you come back. You can ask us to delete your account and all associated data at any time by writing to info@KolHadash.com β€” we will confirm and complete the deletion within 30 days, except for records we are legally required to keep (for example, donation receipts).

8

Your rights and choices

Regardless of where you live, you may ask us to:

  • See a copy of the information we have about you.
  • Correct anything that is wrong.
  • Delete your account and personal information.
  • Export your enrollment history.
  • Opt out of any non-essential email.
9

Security

Your account is protected by encrypted connections (HTTPS) and industry-standard authentication. No system is perfect, but we work hard to keep your information safe. If we ever discover a breach that affects you, we will notify you promptly.

10

International users

Kol Hadash Online is operated from the United States. If you access the site from outside the U.S., your information will be handled in the U.S. under the practices described here.

Changes to this policy

If we update this policy in a meaningful way, we will post the new date at the top and, for logged-in users, notify you by email before the change takes effect.
